LUS Announces 11th Wholesaler to Join the LUS Powered Network
LUS Powered Network (Lafayette Utilities System) will announce today at a 2 PM press conference that Lafayette Data Systems, LLC is the most recent local company to complete contract negotiations to retail LUS fiber optic broadband capacity for business market resale. LUS and Lafayette Consolidated Government officials will be on hand to welcome Lafayette Data Systems, located at 605 Buchanan Street in central downtown Lafayette, to the LUS Powered Network. Lafayette Data Systems offers a full-suite of computer technology solutions for local businesses. The LUS Powered Network connectivity will now enable Lafayette Data Systems to greatly expand their market presence, while providing consulting services, hosting and co-location, and broadband connectivity to its growing list of Lafayette business customers. Barry Stinson, President of Lafayette Data Systems states, "Being connected to the fiber ring has given us the ability to become a one stop shop for several of our clients. We are able to bundle services like off-site back-up, virus scanning, SPAM filtering, and internet access as one affordable package. No other city in our state, and very few in the nation, have a fully functional fiber-ring. Local businesses are starting to realize this and take advantage of it. As LUS continues to develop the fiber ring, Lafayette is definitely becoming the place in Louisiana to have a technologically advanced business." The LUS Powered Network is helping to light the way for the future of technology in the Lafayette community by providing wholesale telecommunications services at competitive pricing, and currently includes six Lafayette based technology companies that are contracted to retail fiber optic broadband services to their customers. During Hurricane Lili, the LUS Powered Network never lost transmission of it fiber optic services and none of its customers suffered data loss or network downtime. Terry Huval, Director of LUS, says “LUS is moving Lafayette into the future by offering the telecommunications infrastructure services of the fiber optic network to local telecommunications wholesalers. The LUS Powered Network welcomes Lafayette Data Systems and offers them the same quality and reliability of services that LUS has provided to the community for over 100 years.” About the LUS Powered Network: The LUS Powered Network, a division of the Lafayette Utilities System, is a 65-mile, 96-strand SONET fiber optic loop providing wholesale broadband and high-speed Internet access throughout the City of Lafayette with established/direct connections to Tier 1 providers.
