The LUS Powered Network is a 65 mile, 96 strand fiber optic loop in Lafayette, Louisiana. Bandwidth ranges from T1 to OC192. Internet access ranges from T1 to OC12, as well as 10Mbps to 100Mbps.

How does the redundancy of the LUS Powered Network "loop" work?

LUS utilizes Bi-directional Line Switched Rings (BLSR) in the core and large access rings (where possible) for bandwidth reuse. BLSRs allocate half the available fiber bandwidth for protection and the other half for working traffic. In the event of a fiber break or other cause for an outage, the Powered Network will reroute traffic in the opposite direction onto the protect circuit that is used only in the event of trouble on the active circuit.

How long will it take to establish service?

Connection time after contract agreement depends on the needs of the individual customer (build-out, equipment)with a 45 day maximum.

LUS offers wholesale customers broadband, dedicated packet services, shared packet services, direct Internet access, customer premise equipment, tower lease space packages, and last mile services.
